| Before You File Federal Law requires you to take a credit counseling course BEFORE you can file for bankruptcy. Consumer Credit Counseling Service After You File Federal Law requires that you take a financial education/debtor education course AFTER you file for bankruptcy, but BEFORE you can receive a discharge (successfully complete the bankruptcy).
